Letter from the Editor

Claire Sterrett - Letter from Editor

Much has changed in the world since my last Editor’s letter. As we move into what appears to be a less safe and less secure time for women, Bad Kitty remains committed to using its platform as a voice for female empowerment, freedom of expression, and education. We are proud to have a diverse (albeit primarily female) group of writers as part of our team and remain committed to reflecting the values of our pole community through our articles.

Another person who remains committed to diversity is PoleCon CEO and Bad Kitty writer Colleen Jolly. You can check out a review of this year’s PoleCon here, and read all about the Queer Showcase and the Cultural Appropriation Seminar at her event. Bad Kitty writer Danielle Christine dug further into the Queer Pole movement in her fantastic interview with Liz Kinnmark.

Our Inspiration Series continue to bring powerful and touching stories about Polers who overcome extraordinary odds in their battles for their health and the ways in which pole has helped them. In addition to your health, we are also interested in the health of the planet, which is why this year we chose to highlight an article on how to be an environmentally friendly pole dancer.

Of course, we also remain committed to bringing you articles that help to improve your pole practice (even while on vacation) and that help you to be at your best – sometimes that means rest! Interested in how to sport those monster heels? We have you covered. Curious about what it’s like to be a pole star? Check out this article on what it takes. Or maybe you need some concrete advice in how to prevent injuries. Or some awesome summer workouts. Whatever it may be, from blinging up a pole costume, to how to run your own pole business, chances are you can find it on our blog!

This year also marks the Ten Year Anniversary of Bad Kitty!! We are so excited! As the OG pole wear company in the industry we are Throwing It Back all year. Check out our article on the history of pole comps, and take a peek at pole moves back in they day (and what they look like now). And don’t miss our Pole Influencer series. We highlight the pioneers of our amazing industry, starting with the lovely Fawnia Mondey!

As we look back on the history of pole we are reminded of how quickly a community can evolve and grow, and we remain hopeful for a bright and beautiful future.

Happy Poling!

CGS
